B.C. Brand Sunrise Apples. A summer treat.

Sunrise apples are crisp, with a fresh taste that signals the start of apple harvest. It is one of the best early varieties. With a short season, enjoy Sunrise while it’s here!

The Sunrise variety was bred at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Research Station in Summerland in 1965. Sunrise has a complex parentage including McIntosh and Golden Delicious apple varieties. Sunrise has a yellow or green background with bright red patches. Not only is Sunrise a beautiful apple to look at, its white flesh is remarkably crisp. The apple flavor has a pleasant sweet/sharp balance.

Sunrise is the perfect apple for back-to-school lunch boxes in September and as an end-of-summer treat. Parents can provide a nutritious, healthy boost for students heading back to school. It’s easy with Sunrise apples!

As always, keep all varieties of apples in a bowl in the refrigerator until ready to eat or ready to pack in a lunchbox. Sunrise lasts about a week in the fridge.

  • Sunrise is an early season apple that is best eaten within a week of purchase to enjoy a wonderful, crisp bite with just the right balance of sharp-sweet flavour.
  • Best for fresh eating, but can be used in deserts and salads.

Did You Know?
Sunrise was so named because it's an 'early apple variety' and has spectacular colours – just like an early morning dawn.

Sunrise is not put into long term storage, so Sunrise is shipped to market immediately.

The red colour appears on the side of the apple that is exposed to the sun.
